Hello i m new to bottle feeding baby goats.
Bottle feeding goats problems.
It is not nearly as much of a commitment as bottle feeding a human kid.
If you have a goat in milk even if it is not the mother of the kid you are raising start there.
Because human kids might need bottle feeding for a year or more.
If it s store.
If using goat milk replacer cut the recommended dose in half.
Overfeeding is one of the largest risks of bottle feeding goats.
A bottle fed baby that stops sucking from the bottle and isn t interested anymore has been fed too much and the amount should be reduced by 1 2 ounces at the next feeding.
The reason is that they will eat and eat and they have extremely sensitive stomachs.
A general rule of thumb is if a kid lets go of the nipple offer the bottle one more time.

I start with 8 12 ounces per feeding depending on the size of the kid.
I don t recommend you feed her until she is full only until you can see her belly rounded out some.
A goat s rumination method of processing food requires plenty of roughage and fiber to work properly.
I only bottle feed a maximum of 3 times a day.
I have a 8 day old and a 12 day old.
But do you know when to wean bottle fed goat kids.
They are both eating well.
Sometimes however this isn t an option.

I prefer uni milk i usually add an egg to each gallon i mix.
My question though is.
Very often problems with bottle fed kids stem from the use of milk.
If you feed them to where they are full and lack interest in their bottle then you ve fed them too much.
The bacteria in turn make the nutrition in the food available to the goat s system.
If you do not we recommend whole cow s milk.
The most important thing i can stress when feeding bottle baby goats is to try and do what a natural goat mom would do the first few days goat moms allow the babies to eat many times per day but if you watch them they only eat a small amount each time as they get older mom will only stand to allow them to nurse.
This can come from either your own farm if you have a milk cow or just from the grocery story.
Goats milk is obviously the best choice to bottle feed if you have it.
